ChromaticSoul :: The Blog

Elsewhere…

Brian Ulrich talks about self-portraits on his blog. I enjoyed the piece. Check it out.

…What is the desire to make artful serious photographs of oneself? It seems to speak of the power images in general. …We react viscerally when standing in front of the thing, photography adds to this through it’s realism, furthering the command of the viewer through recognition. n a self-portrait the image seems to give the creators some sense of control….

Meanwhile, Alec Soth shares a rather terse letter from a colleague.  I’m no fashion photographer, but I did check out the issue of W with Alec’s photos. I enjoyed the photography. It’s hard to say whether it fits the magazine or not since I’m not a regular reader and really don’t follow fashion to begin with. All I can say is: I did enjoy the photography.
