On Being a Part-Time Photographer

Posted on: 12 October 2007

It’s difficult to break into photography and try to make a living at it. Many out there have a job that “pays the bills” and they run a photography business that they perhaps hope someday will take off on it’s own or perhaps supplement retirement checks.

The biggest obstacle I run into personally is TIME. How do I spend 8+ hours a day at a job that brings home the bacon and make time to take and develop photos into art. Afterall, photography is my passion. This is the stuff that keeps me going. I do the “other job” so that I have money to purchase the photography equipment. Isn’t that what most photographers do?

Anyway, the photopreneur has an article out titled, How to Keep Your Job and Be a Part-Time Photographer. If you just want to shoot a few photos part-time and would like to earn a few dollars with your photos then this is likely a good article for you. If you want to make more with your business and really get into a photography business, well…you’ll need to do a lot more work.
