7 Reasons to Love Prime Lenses

I have to agree on this. I have two lenses: the one that was on the Rebel XT when I purchased it (an EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6) and then I purchased my macro EF 100mm f/2.8 lens. By far I love the quality of the 100mm lens. The photos are much clearer and crisper. The quality of photos taken with that lens is by far better. However, at 100mm it’s way too close for any kind of landscape photography. It is a macro lens and it works good for portraits. When I want to go out and photography landscape I have to resort back to the 18-55mm. I’m thinking the purchase of a 50mm prime lens would really be a much better way to go. I agree with this article whole heartedly.
Oh, and the 7 reasons briefly are:
- Lower cost
- Fewer lens distortions
- Sharper images
- Better DOF control
- Nicer looking BOKEH
- Lower light capabilities
- They make you think
Check out the article for more indepth on each of the reasons.
