This is a really cool tutorial. If you want a ring flash but don’t have the money to purchase one yet this could very well work for you. The materials needed include:

  • A plastic bowl (not too thick) whose base is about 8 cm of diameter. Your lenses need to be able to go through.
  • Another plastic bowl, but slightly smaller, but not under 8 cm. It needs to get inside the big bowl, but your lenses will also have to go through it.
  • A piece of pipe (PVC gives the best results in term of weight and toughness) about 5 cm long and 8 cm of diameter.
  • Some aluminum foil
  • A pen
  • A ton of big tape
  • A cutter
  • And you’ll need some hard glue.

Armed with a digital camera and that non-stop wit of yours, you now have the power to turn a simple photograph into a humorous or inspirational message. Print it, frame it! Make two—we know you’ve got hundreds of digital images and photos to spare! Make your own inspirational, funny, parody, sports or other posters. Perfect for the office, schools, teachers, coaches, as announcements, for parties, invitations, and a lot more. [via Big Huge Labs]

This is by far the wierdest DIY I’ve ever come across.

I have been talking about doing this experiment for a long time, but have never gotten to it until this weekend. It is possible to process your own film using coffee. Hard to believe, I know, but it works. The other ingredient besides vitamin C and coffee is washing soda. It was a little hard to track down, but you might look in the laundry section of your local grocery store. Here is a YouTube video showing how it is done: [via Found Photography]
