If you’re looking for some really cool wallpapers, look no further. Smashing Magazine has a slew of them for the month of October.

Desktop wallpapers can serve as an excellent source of inspiration. However, if you use some specific wallpaper for a long period of time, it becomes harder to draw inspiration out of it. That’s why we have decided to supply you with smashing wallpapers over 12 months.

And to make them a little bit more distinctive from the usual crowd, we’ve decided to embed calendars for the upcoming month. So if you need to look up some date, isn’t it better to show off a nice wallpaper with a nice calendar instead of launching some default time application?

This post features 40 free desktop wallpapers, created by designers across the globe. Both versions with a calendar and without a calendar can be downloaded for free.

If you’re hooked on David’s wallpapers like I am, then you should wander over to Pixelated Image and checkout the June wallpaper from Quito, Ecuador.

June08 Wallpaper

David has posted the May wallpaper already and it’s only the middle of April. Wow! I love those vivid colors!

I can’t believe we’re almost in April already.

David over on pixelated image has posted his April wallpaper for those of you who frequent his site. I didn’t care much for the March one but loved February and April is pretty awesome too. Take a look for yourself.

I’ve been enjoying the desktop wallpaper downloads that David provides on his Blog Pixelated Image for almost a year now. This month’s is really a winner. I absolutely love the vibrant colors. They really stand out. The swirls in the sand seem to be reflected in the clouds in the sky. This is my favorite so far. Thank you David.
